I kissed my friend that I liked... did I call her too soon?

So I have known this girl for a year and we were never really close friends, but she always liked hanging out with me. She seemed like she was into me months ago but I was dating someone else at the time. Since I broke up with my girlfriend my friend and I have hung out a couple of times. (More like dates, we would go hiking or I would take her out to dinner.) Yesterday I asked her if she was dating anyone and she said she wasn't. We were eating at a restaurant and she asked me if I wanted to see her new place (She is 23 and just got her own place.) and I went with her to her house. We hung out there for a while and just as I was getting ready to leave, the conversation kind of trailed off... I looked her in the eyes and I said I thought she was beautiful. I put my hands on her waist and kissed her. She never objected or seemed very surprised... I didn't get smacked or scolded or anything. :P I told her I would call her and I left. (She was smiling.) So today I called her and she didn't answer her phone. I only called once and left a message saying I was just seeing how she was doing. I hope I didn't do anything wrong, and hope I don't make things weird and lose a friend. But I like her more than a friend. I guess it's better I tried and will find out for sure yes or no rather than always wonder what if. I really like her as a person she has an amazing personality and we are always laughing and having a good time. Maybe she just needs more time to process things? Thanks for any input!!
