How do you feel about the traditional roles of men and female in Western Civilization?

Do you agree with society's customs and concepts of gender? (the man being the protective one, where as the women being the protected and doing things that fit the myth of woman?-cleaning, doing house jobs or anything that involves less physical strength?) I'm really curious as I've rarely seen a question as such (there probably would be/have been others, if i'd actually take the time to weeed through all the racist/ignorant questions) But any thoughts? I know it sounds pretty prehistoric to think of the women as the care-taker and the man as the provider, but do you think our customs haved changed very much throughout time?
