Try to construct a stream of thought without using words?

Difficult? How far has our language influenced our intelligence? Well Obviously our thinking has evolved due to our language, but how would a prehistoric human being think? Would He/She be able to rise above animal intelligence? Could they formulate complex streams of thoughts or emotions, considering they had no language(or very primitive ones)?
